The Wholeness Of
What Naturally Seems To Appear

For thousands of years, human teachers and traditions have, in one way or another, attempted to communicate something about wholeness and what has more recently come to be called non-duality. Many different descriptions, teachings, practices and explanations have naturally appeared. There is nothing wrong with this. However, the seeming appearance of the description offered in this book is simple and did not emerge from a particular philosophy. Rather than beginning with an explanation of what reality ultimately is, it allows, in a manner of speaking, what naturally seems to appear to speak for itself.

My new book, The Wholeness of What Naturally Seems to Appear, begins with the self-evidence provided by what is already here: all the distinct, but not independently separate, forms of the universe, including awareness and our natural humanity — two, but not two.

It explores this without needing to explain what reality ultimately is, what everything is made of, or what may lie behind what naturally seems to appear. Nor does it treat any particular aspect of what appears as the underlying reality of everything else — whether apparent materiality, consciousness, or anything else.

The inseparable wholeness that seems to be so deeply longed for in human life is already the case as what naturally seems to appear, whilst within this the appearance of separating self-consciousness may arise as an aspect of that very same wholeness. With this can come the experience of being something separate: something that seems incomplete and may seek the wholeness it longs for through objective experiences, relationships, achievements, possessions, states or even spiritual attainment. Yet none of these can finally provide the wholeness being sought, because there was no actual separation to begin with.

Quite naturally, and without any prescribed mechanism through which this must happen, the self-evidence that this separateness is illusory may simply stop being overlooked.

The descriptions that appear in this book may therefore have a deconstructive quality without becoming a path. They may undermine some of the assumptions through which what appears seems to consist of independently separate somethings, without providing a method through which someone can move from separation to wholeness.
